Strategies To Deal With Teargas - Part II

First of May - Labor Day

Since around 20 years, the celebrations and demonstrations at Labor Day are accompanied by riots in some cities, especially in Berlin. But also here in Zürich, there are every year some autonomists (normally left-, but nowadays also right-) -wing people that are starting some smaller riots, like destroying shop windows and throwing stones and bottles towards the present policemen.
The police is answering by using tear gas & shooting at the autonomists with rubber bullets and waterbeams (from water cannon trucks).
Often, passive spectators are also effected, especially by the tear gas....

  • VERY powerful, journalistic image. The expression on this person's face seems to say it all.

  • Brilliant work. Not sure I would fancy being in the middle of all that. Although for the chance at such exciting photography, maybe I would.

  • It looks so.. Ironic!
I mean, we can see the smoke, the police forces behind the guy, we see that he is what you might call a "hooligan"... But he just stands there, enjoying his drink!
    Look like a commercial!
